What is Ruqyah?

Ruqyah is a term used in Islamic tradition to refer to spiritual healing and protection through the recitation of specific verses from the Quran and supplications (duas). It involves the recitation of sacred words, verses, and prayers to seek Allah’s blessings, healing, and protection from various forms of spiritual and physical ailments.

The practice of Ruqyah is based on the belief that the Quranic verses contain healing power and can ward off negative energies and influences.

Ruqyah is often performed by qualified individuals who are well-versed in Islamic teachings and have a deep understanding of the Quran.

These individuals are known as “Ruqyah practitioners” or “Ruqyah healers.” They recite specific verses from the Quran, including Surah Al-Fatiha (the opening chapter) and various other verses that are believed to have protective and healing qualities.

What are the benefits of  Ruqyah?

Ruqyah is commonly sought for various reasons:

  • Spiritual Healing: It is believed that reciting Ruqyah verses can help alleviate spiritual afflictions, such as possession by jinn (supernatural beings) or negative energies.
  • Physical Ailments: Some people seek Ruqyah to aid in the healing of physical illnesses and ailments. It’s believed that the recitation of Quranic verses can have a positive impact on the body’s well-being.
  • Protection: Reciting Ruqyah is also practiced as a means of protection from harm, evil eye (envy), and negative influences.
  • Mental and Emotional Healing: Ruqyah is thought to provide solace and comfort to those facing emotional distress, anxiety, or mental health issues.
  • Faith and Devotion: For many Muslims, Ruqyah serves as a way to strengthen their faith, seek closeness to Allah, and draw upon the healing power of the Quran.
